Horsing around at harvest festival

The Royal Parks and the Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms held a Harvest Fair in St James's Park to celebrate a bumper crop of vegetables which were grown on the park's allotment.

Westminster - a class apart?

coins.jpgWestminster was named as the most 'upper class' borough in Britain, according to a recent survey.

The borough has more 'upper class' features - including public schools, tailors, polo clubs, yacht clubs and chauffeur companies - based on the number of people living there, than anywhere else in the country.

TA seeks recruits in Pimlico

The Territorial Army will be opening its doors to the public on Tuesday, giving potential recruits an insight into the TA lifestyle.

The recruiting evening is being held at Horseferry Road TA Centre, in Horseferry Road, Pimlico, from 7.30pm.

Community projects in Belgravia are set to benefit from £12,000 of funding a year.

'Community Matters', a new initiative launched at Waitrose, in Motcomb Street, chooses three cuases a month to be given a share of £1,000.

The Royal Parks and the Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms are holding a Harvest Fair, to celebrate a successful summer's yield in the 'Dig for Victory: War on Waste' organic allotment.

Westminster top for car prangs

WESTMINSTER-TRAFFIC-4.jpgNew figures show that Westminster has the highest number of accident prone roads in the country.

The constituency of Westminster and Cities of London has the most routes on which you are likely to prang your car, followed by Bristol East.

Tenth on the list is Kensington and Chelsea and all of the top ten are in the south of England.

An action group is campaigning to save St Mark's church in North Audley Street, West End, from becoming a luxury health treatment centre.

'Pimp my ride' in Pimlico

Almost £25,000 is being spent on car mechanics training, gardening projects and toy play sessions for young people in Westminster's Churchill ward.

The money is just one quarter of the total £100,000 budget for residents to spend on local projects under Westminster Council's Neighbourhoods Programme.

Muslims have been warned not to give money to beggars during Ramadan, following reports they are being targeted by fraudsters.
Westminster Council fears con artists are posing as Muslims by wearing prayer shawls and by praying on mats in the street to gain cash.
