Westminster - a class apart?
Westminster was named as the most 'upper class' borough in Britain, according to a recent survey.
The borough has more 'upper class' features - including public schools, tailors, polo clubs, yacht clubs and chauffeur companies - based on the number of people living there, than anywhere else in the country.
According to local information website www.locallife.co.uk, Westminster claimed the title of being 'Britain's poshest place' by having a posh features for every 1,162 residents.
By contrast, the borough of Kensington and Chelsea came in fifth, by having an 'upper class' facility for every 2,921 residents.
The most 'working class' place was named by the survey as Barrow-in-Furness, as it has a fish and chip shop, working men's club, bookmakers, greyhound track or trade union office for every 2,917 people.
Chairman of locallife.co.uk Tony Martin said: "Westminster is home to Park Lane, Savile Row and Pall Mall - some of the poshest streets in the country - so it was no shock to see it top of the toffs.
"More of a surprise was Kensington and Chelsea's fifth place showing - you'd think the home of Holland Park and the Royal would come further up the list."
