Crackdown on Christmas crime

Posted by Juliet Eysenck on Dec 1, 08 02:14 PM in News

police-standing.jpgA crackdown on crime and antisocial behaviour over the Christmas period was launched in the West End.

The initiative, codenamed Operation Noel, will combat robbery, pick pocketing, bag and mobile phone thefts, and other offences in Oxford Street, Leicester Square and Soho.

Westminster's borough commander Steve Allen said: "Westminster remains a very safe place to visit, and I would encourage people to come and enjoy the many activities available to them over the holiday period.

"I would however, also like to send a message to those individuals who are intent to commit crime or act in an anti-social manner, that my officers will be watching you, and that you will be arrested."

We'd like to hear from you.
