Around 50 young 'looked after' people and their carers attended a day of performances, poems and presentations at Tate Britain, in Millbank, showcasing the work they have done over the past year.

A fitness centre will be opened in Pimlico from Monday.

The mini sports area is due to be unveiled at the community hall on the Lillington and Longmoore Gardens Estate by Westminster mayor Cllr Louise Hyams and Westminster Council's housing arm CityWest Homes.

Work is due to start this week to clean and refill St James's Park lake to improve the water quality for wildlife.

Last drained in 1987, the Lake will be emptied in two sections, with a temporary dam built down the middle, in order to give wildlife access to water and to an island at all times.
