A body discovered on Sunday is believed to be that of missing Belgravia man Huibert Boumeester.

The 49-year-old was reported as missing on June 22, when he failed to turn up for a business appointment.

A statement from Mr Boumeester's family read: "At present, the investigation and identification process is not yet complete and we are limited as to how we can respond to the reports that have understandably spread in the media.

"Since his disappearance, we have hoped for a positive ending.

"We are deeply grieved by what we must now assume is a tragic outcome.

"We express our thanks to all those people who have been searching for Huibert these past days.

"We are left with great sadness."
