Two shire horses will held celebrate a harvest fair in St James's Park at the weekend.

On Saturday and Sunday, the free event will mark the end of three years of success at the park's allotment, which will move to Kensington Gardens and Regent's Park in 2010.

The event will run between 11am and 4pm and activities on offer include arts and crafts for children.

Horticulture experts will be there to offer free advice on growing fruit and veg.

The Royal Parks Shire horse, Jed and Forte, will be celebrating their retirement, giving visitors the opportunity to pat them goodbye.

Mark Wasilewski, park manager of St James's Park said: "The St James's Park allotment has inspired thousands of people to grow their own fruit and veg.

"The Harvest Fair marks the end of this successful three year project, but The Royal Parks aims to extend the programme further and give even more people the opportunity to get involved.

"In 2010, new vegetable growing spaces will be established in Regent's Park, Kensington Gardens, and on Duck Island in St James's Park."

We'd like to hear from you.
