Blaze breaks out in Pimlico

Posted by Juliet Eysenck on Feb 9, 10 12:37 PM in News in brief

Unattended cooking is believed to be behind a blaze which sparked at a Pimlico flat last night (8).

Part of the ground floor flat of a four-storey block on the Churchill Gardens Estate, in Churchill Gardens Road, was damaged by the fire.

The Fire Brigade was called at 7.19pm and the fire was under control by 7.53pm.

Firefighters believe the blaze started in the flat's kitchen and was caused by some cooking being left unattended.

Four people were evacuated from the block as a precaution.

Crews from Lambeth, Chelsea and Westminster fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
