Computers donated to North Paddington charity
Free computers have been given to a North Paddington charity to help adults with learning disabilities.
Pursuing Independent Paths (PIP), based in Shirland Mews, were donated two computers which will be used to support their work with people who have learning disabilities to work, study and take part in social activities with as much independence as possible.
The machines, which were no longer needed by Westminster Council, were handed over after being security checked and cleaned of data.
They were loaded up with new software and offered to eligible volunteer groups or individuals who applied for them.
Bill Feeney, director of PIP, said: "We're very grateful for these computers as they will enhance the quality of services that we already run.
"It goes a long way to ensure our work will stay at its current high standard."
So far, 49 voluntary groups have benefited from the scheme including Action Westminster, London Tigers and Westminster Talking Newspaper.
Eligible groups must be a registered charity and be able to show how their service or activity meets the needs of people living, working or studying in Westminster.
Individuals on low income or disability allowance can also apply.
