PIMLICO: Free animation workshops will be held at the Westminster Archives Centre in St Ann's Street on August 25 and 26.

Animator Tom Hillenbrand will lead the sessions from 10am to 4pm each day, for children aged seven to 13.

PIMLICO: Pimlico Library, in Lupus Street, will be closed from Monday, August 30.

The library is moving to a new site within Pimlico Academy, also in Lupus Street, and will be used by pupils at the school as well as the community.

The new library opens at 10am on Wednesday, September 8.

Westminster Council apologised for any inconvenience caused by the short closure period.

Bayswater goes ping pong mad

More than 20 residents of the Hallfield Estate, in Bishop's Bridge Road, turned up to the competition on Wednesday.

Daniel SmithA man was arrested yesterday over the fatal shooting of Daniel Smith outside a North Paddington take away.

Detectives investigating the murder of 22-year-old electrician Mr Smith, of Queen's Park, arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

MAIDA VALE: A football tournament will be held at Paddington Recreation Ground, in Randolph Avenue, on August 15 and 16.

The under 12s mixed tournament kicks off on the Saturday at 9.30am, followed by the under 14s boys at 1.30pm.

A new fleet of tubes on the Victoria Line has been hit by "technical issues", Transport for London (TfL) has admitted.

The trains, which are part of a £90million upgrade of the Victoria Line, began operating last summer but in recent weeks, passengers have experienced an increase in delays.

PADDINGTON: Children's author Edward Harvey will be introducing his new picture book entitled Martha No to children aged four to seven.

The free event will be held at Paddington Library, in Porchester Road, at 2.30pm on August 17.

West End jazz drummer killed

Chris DagleyAn 'exceptional' jazz musician who played in the house band at Ronnie Scott's has been named as the victim of a fatal scooter accident on the Westway yesterday morning.

Chris Dagley, who was just 38, was killed instantly when he lost control on the A40 near Wood Lane at around 4am.

Anger over play service cuts

Parents have slammed council plans to cut funding for children's after school and summer holiday play services.

Until now, Westminster Council has heavily subsidised fees paid by parents for its play schemes but parents will now be expected to pay more to make council savings of £350,000.
