Children raise money for play scheme
Most children enjoy a break from work during their summer holidays but these youngsters had to raise money to pay for their own play activities.
They took part in a sponsored walk to help fund a summer play scheme at the St John's Wood Adventure Playground, based in St John's Wood Terrace.
The walk took them around the area from St John's Wood Barracks in Ordnance Hill, to St John's Wood Synagogue in Grove End Road, to the London Central Mosque in Regent's Park.
They were joined by other young people from the Salusbury World Refugee Centre, in Queen's Park, during the walk which took place yesterday.
The day finished with relay races and a tug-of-war competition.
Kunle Kolade, senior playworker at the Adventure Playground, said: "We want the children to know their neighbourhood.
"At the same time, the playground really needs to raise funds.
"The sponsored walk combined the two and we now plan to do this every year."
