MAYFAIR: A moped gang smashed into a Vivienne Westwood store in Conduit Street shortly before midnight on Wednesday, making off with around 30 handbags.

Four people riding two Vespa-style scooters crashed through the door, before the two passengers ran into the shop and grabbed the bags.

The bags, from the latest autumn/winter collection, are worth between £200 and £800 each.

The gang drove down Conduit Street, heading west towards Berkeley Square.

No arrests have yet been made.

Detective constable Ross McEwan, from Westminster crime squad, appealed for witnesses or anyone with information to call 020 7321 8686 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
