Mixing art and politics

Posted by Emma Heseltine on Oct 8, 10 04:59 PM in What's On

A sculpture tutor at Kensington and Chelsea College is mixing art and politics in a thought-provoking 3D exhibition.

Prize winning sculptor Shelley Wilson will be hosting her 'Body Politic' exhibition at Westminster Reference Library, to coincide with the return of parliament after its summer break.

Her work marks the historic occasion when an unprecedented 147 MPs stepped down before this year's general election, celebrating their careers and achievements against the backdrop of the expenses scandal.

'Body Politic' consists of 147 ceramic busts of the MPs who have left Parliament, alongside written statements by the members themselves, and their CVs.

The exhibition is free to attend, and runs until Friday October 29 at the library in St Martin's Street.

Opening hours are 10am-8pm Monday to Friday and 10am-5pm on Saturday.

We'd like to hear from you.
