The competition invited visitors to capture an image of their favourite of the eight Royal Parks - including St James's Park and Hyde Park - and submit it to a public vote on social networking site Facebook.

The contest received 79 entries with 223 votes cast.

First prize went to Lesley Turner for her picture of Regent's Park, winning her a collectors' box set of eight London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games pin badges which each show a unique element of one of the parks.

Liz Mullins, The Royal Parks programme director for the 2012 Games, said: "The competition received some stunning images, which really capture the beauty of the parks and make you realise how exciting it is to be welcoming the London 2012 Games.

"Bringing together London's most beautiful locations and the greatest show on earth, the events in the Royal Parks promise to be absolutely unforgettable."
