Sculptures unveiled in Westminster

Posted by Juliet Eysenck on Jan 14, 11 01:15 PM in News in brief

WESTMINSTER: A circle of ten large-scale sculptures almost five metres in height and cast in bronze was unveiled today at Victoria Tower Gardens, in Abingon Street.

Entitled Nuestros Silencios, or Our Silences, the artwork is intended to convey a message of the need for freedom expression and the things we leave unsaid.

The mouths of all the sculptures, by artist Rivelino, are covered with a hanging plate to signify feelings and opinions that are unspoken in all walks of life and across all nationalities.

Arranged with the Embassy of Mexico and the Royal Parks, the exhibition is part of Westminster Council's 'City of Sculpture' Festival which will see the heart of the capital's outdoors transformed by more than 60 pieces of art.

We'd like to hear from you.
