Parents in Westminster have been urged to protect their children against measles after an increase in cases across London.

There were seven cases reported in the borough last year and although there has been just one case in Westminster so far this year, parents have been warned to ensure their children are fully protected against the illness.

Mushtaq QureshiA popular Queen's Park councillor has been remembered by friends and family with a plaque.

Councillor Mushtaq Qureshi, who served the Queen's Park ward as a Labour councillor from 1994, died in office in October 2009 at the age of 76.

He was the first Bangladeshi representative on Westminster Council.

Goon Show remembered 60 years on

Plaque to the Goon ShowSixty years after its first broadcast, one of the most influential radio shows of all time was remembered with a plaque.

The Goon Show came to life in a room above The Strutton Arms pub, in Victoria, which was at the time called Grafton's.

MARYLEBONE: A charity is appealing for volunteers to give up a few hours a week.
Barnado's needs people to help out at its store in George Street.

Money raised from the shop goes towards the charity's work in supporting children in poverty, young carers and families looking to adopt or foster.

Man stabbed on bus in Maida Vale

A man remains in a critical condition after he was stabbed on a night bus in Maida Vale.

The 23-year-old was attacked at around 1.35am on Sunday.

He was taken to a central London hospital suffering from stab wounds.

Victoria Bean spent one day a week for a whole year at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court, in Horseferry Road, gathering material for her book, entitled Caught.

PIMLICO: A new vicar is set to join St Saviour's Church, in Lupus Street.

Father Matthew Catterick is currently team rector in Wembley Park with particular responsibility for the Church of the Ascension.

His collation ceremony takes place on September 15 at 7.30pm and all are invited.

MARYLEBONE: Carers are invited to a performance by the Sacconi Quartet at Wigmore Hall, in Wigmore Street, at 11am on June 14.

The Music for Life event, a project organised by Wigmore Hall and the charity Dementia UK, is being held to mark Carers Week (June 13 to 19).

PADDINGTON: Donors are invited to give blood in Paddington Central Building 3, in Sheldon Square, between 10am to 12.20pm, and 2pm to 4.40pm on June 1 and 2.

Anyone aged between 17 and 65, weighing more than 50kg and in general good health, can potentially start to save lives by becoming a blood donor.

David Simmons outside St Margaret's drop-in centreA Pimlico drop-in centre for older people has launched a desperate hunt for extra money after hearing it would lose half of its funding.

Dozens of over 50s regularly attend St Margaret's drop-in centre, in Carey Place, which has been open for more than 25 years offering a subsidised lunch, activities including keep-fit and yoga classes and a place to socialise.
