Burglar falls and breaks back while fleeing across rooftops
A burglar slipped and broke his back and a leg as a plucky police sergeant gave chase over the rooftops on Saturday.
The officer spotted two raiders in offices in Margaret Street, West End at 11am and as they tried to flee across the roof one, aged 32, slipped and fell.
The other, a 28-year-old man, was arrested later and released on police bail.
During the chase one attacked the officer who was treated in hospital for head injuries.
Police are appealing for witnesses and for information about a third raider who may have been driving a VW Golf as a get-away vehicle parked in Great Titchfield Street.
