A 21-year-old woman has died after being hit by a District line train at Victoria Underground station.

The woman, believed to from Gillingham, Kent, was struck by a train on the westbound platform at about 10.30am today (09).

A by-election will take place in Marylebone High Street ward following the resignation of Councillor Harvey Marshall.

Residents will go to the polls on Thursday, May 2 after the Conservative stepped down last month. He was deputy cabinet member for city management and transport.

Victoria Street has been cordoned off between Artillery Row and Bressenden Plance near Buckingham Palace Road. Queues were building up northbound on Wilton Road.

Labour councillors have launched an online petition to install a pelican crossing near to where an elderly pedestrian died.
